Incredible!!

Hart Beat was the first book I've read by this young author and I loved and devoured every single word and page of it.
Both main characters are intruiging and make you curious to get to know them better and what makes them tick, or even better, why they're so fascinated by each other.
The whole story is full of suspense, told fast and keeps you caught till you have finished reading it. The turns and twists are great and make the whole reading an adventurous ride you don't want to miss. I can't wait to read more by Eric Thornton, especially about Hart and Carr.

I couldn't put this book down the whole time I read it. It's a fairly short book but it grips you from the first page and leaves you wanting to know more. I can't wait for the second book to be out so I can find out what happens to Hart and Carr. Please hurry up and finish writing the next book, cause I want it... NOW! :)

An extremely important book

With "The Healing Choice," Candace De Puy and Dana Dovitch have made a much needed and extremely important contribution to the fields of psychology and womens' health. I recently re-read this book in preparation for working with a young woman who was struggling to heal from the emotional impact of having an abortion under traumatic circumstances. It was incredibly helpful, both to me and to the patient, herself. Besides providing solid information, the personal stories and insights of a wide range of women, and numerous exercises that deal with specific issues along the path to recovery, this book is full of compassion. And it is just as relevent today as it was when it was first published.

A must read for anyone dealing with abortion.

I bought this for a family member who was experiencing long term guilt after having an abortion at a young age. I read it first to make sure it was not about condemnation and forgiveness. This book give a human rather than a religious perspective of abortion. It helped me to understand what my relative was going through and she seemed to let go of the guilt after reading this book.

More than just information

The author provides an astounding amount of information in this book collected from a lot of different sources that makes it a great go to guide when desiring information on different types of beings and subjects in this field of interest. However she also provides some original insight from her own spiritual experiences and inner guidance that is thought provoking and perhaps brings forward answers to questions that many may have wondered about of the why's as to how all these things have meaning and application to the larger picture of the creation of which we are all playing our part. If you have an interest in this field this book can only help you to have more of what you're looking for and provide additional food for your mind and spirit to munch on as to the greater understanding of some divine plan unfolding within it all.

Another great story by Hallee Bridgeman!

Greater than Rubies spans the distance between Sapphire Ice and Emerald Fire by Hallee Bridgeman. Sapphire Ice left us wanting to know what happens with Tony and Robin, the two main characters. It left me wondering what their wedding would be like. Would it go smoothly? Would it be big, small, out of control??? Greater than Rubies gives you all of that and more! Hallee begins by reintroducing her characters so you could read this book alone or with the other books in this series. She also gives us more insight on each character as the story goes along.
I personally love the Christian aspect of Hallee's books. It's not overwhelming, yet you know that it's a huge part of her books and why the story was even written! There are not enough books out there these days with Christian morals, and I would rather read a story like Hallee's over any trashy romance story.
Hallee has surpassed any expectaions I have had for her as a new author and I hope, no, pray, that she has many many more stories to write and publish! I will read each and every one with great enthusiasim!

What an 'Extra' to go with the Jewel Trilogy!

I was so delighted to learn Mrs. Bridgeman had written an 'extra' story to go with her phenomenal 'Jewel Trilogy' series. I truly had missed the characters when I read the last one, and was excited to meet up once again with the sisters and their men. 'Greater Than Rubies' doesn't disappoint! The characters are just as realistic and endearing as they were in the original series. This was a quick-read, and I relished my quiet Sunday afternoon to start and finish the novella. Mrs. Bridgeman can weave words to evoke laughter and tears...a gift reserved for only the most talented of authors. Even after reading 'Greater Than Rubies' I find myself thinking of these characters, and truly hoping to read more about them as they progress in their relationships throughout the years.

Strong Characters, excellent book!

This was the 1st book in the series that I read and I LOVED it! It is so well written & I just love all the characters & cant wait to find out what happens after this book. I also want to know what leads up to it so I am now reading the first book in the trilogy "Sapphire Ice" & I cant put it down. Normally I do not read Christian books but there is just the right mix of non-Christian everyday life in Hallee's writing that her books definitely hold my interest. This book is definitely a must read!!! -Dena

Great help to Christians new and old

This book clarifies many confusing and sometimes misunderstood aspects of Christian theology, including the triune nature of God and the individual aspects of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, God's original plan for man and how it was impacted by the Fall, and God's plan for man's salvation. I found that it filled a lot of gaps in my knowledge, even though I've been a Christian since childhood and have read and studied the Bible.

Good Intro to Basic Theology

Dr. Bilezikian's introduction to basic Christian doctrine is a wonderful distillation of eight basic doctrines of the Church. The book is very easy to read, does not get bogged down in technical debate and does not add endless Scripture references that add little to the point in question. Starting with the doctrine of Revelation, working through each person of the trinity, the church and end times. Bilezikian shows that he has thought through the issues with the question of the average layperson in mind. Bilezikian's chapter on the church is nothing if not inspiring and his chapter on End Times adds a nice touch to a beleaguered area of theology.
I did find some blemishes in the work. At times, Bilezikian jumps to conclusions that are not supported by his argumentation. For instance, on page 16, he makes the claim: "Since the truth of the Old Testament is partial and incomplete, the Old Testament cannot have the final word on any aspect of revelation, unless it is confirmed as such in the New Testament." That is a pretty hard pill to swallow, particularly when one remembers that 2�Tim 3:16 originally referred to the Hebrew Scriptures! More than once, I found myself asking "why" or saying "so what?" after he made some disconnected bold claim (see pp. 156, 183, 201, etc.). His section on predestination was weak in its argumentation, for anyone who has actually studied the issue. Bilezikian argues for corporate election and a self-limitation of God's foreknowledge not unlike the open-theists. It is an interesting argument, but it would have been more helpful to show the reader its weaknesses as well as its strengths. There were a couple of typos in the book ("gopsel" on p.153 etc.) but none were serious. The only major editing flaw was the omission of the discussion questions for chapter 7 (church). I emailed Zondervan about this and a day later the questions were in my inbox -- I was impressed.
Enough nit-picking, all in all, this is a great introductory text with "small-group" or "freshman" written all over it. If you want some basic doctrine in an accessible style, Christianity 101 is the book for you.

I love this book. I read it five times last year. Every time I read it, I am able to crawl inside Andre Aciman's beautiful words and feel all of Elio's emotions. His desire, his insecurity, his lust, his love, his longing, his remorse, his wonder, his everything. That is what is so special about this book. You don't just read about Elio, you can feel all of those feelings along with Elio.

Beautiful like a poem

I can't really say more than what's already been said about this wonderful book. It's beautifully written, with some exceptions where the prose becomes too heady (mainly in the first half). The last third of the book contains some of the best passages I've ever read about life's most treasured and unique intimacies and their hold over an individual's life.

I wish there'd been a book like this when I was 17 and not understanding my feelings. This book would be helpful to any high school senior that might be unsure or questioning, and is willing to turn off their smartphone and be immersed in this great writing style. But no matter one's age, the book has many worthy ideas about life and loves, and about family and friends, art and literature. I really couldn't put it down. It was a book I woke up early just to finish because I couldn't stay awake until dawn like Oliver and Elio could. :-)
