Fell apart

This textbook was required for a course I'm taking, and before the semester was halfway over, the front matter of the book fell out, and since then other sections have come loose. I don't even have to take the book back and forth to class (it's an online course), so it didn't get any wear and tear from transport. It came apart just from the mere stress and strain of reading it at home.

Thorough and articulate

This book was purchased for an introductory political theory course that is meant to familiarize freshmen and sophomores to the ideas and ideology that the discipline explores without going too much in depth. I think of it as "getting their feet wet." It was chosen on short notice because upon looking at its index, it covered the concepts required.

I have yet to get much feedback from students, but I find it thoroughly explores the typical thinkers/ideas pertinent to concepts like "justice" and "equality" in the 21st century. I wonder if it tries to cover too much ground within a typical 20 page chapter, but it gets the job done.

Maria K. Davis is a partner in the Accounting Consultation Group at Deloitte & Touche LLP's National Office in Wilton, Connecticut. In her current position, she provides accounting guidance on technical accounting issues, primarily in the subject matters of Real Estate and Leases and Joint Ventures and Consolidation, both under U.S. GAAP and IFRS. Before joining Deloitte's National Office, she worked directly with Leon Mayshak, who was then Deloitte's Real Estate Industry Professional Practice Director, In that role, Ms. Davis participated actively in the standard-setting process by contributing to the AICPA Statement of Position 04-2, Accounting for Time-Sharing transactions, and the proposed Statement of Position, Accounting for Certain Costs and Activities related to Property, Plant, and Equipment. A native German, Ms. Davis has published on U.S. accounting standards in the pre-eminent German accounting journal Der Betrieb. She also contributes to Deloitte's interpretation of accounting standards in Deloitte's Technical Library.

Over the course of her career with Deloitte, Ms. Davis has provided attest and advisory services to Deloitte's clients in a variety of industries in both the United States and Germany.

Ms. Davis received a Master's Degree in Accounting from the University of North Florida, as well as a Degree in Finance from the Hochschule München, Germany. In addition to her CPA qualification, she also holds professional qualifications as a German certified public accountant and a German certified tax advisor. Ms. Davis is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of CPAs, and the German Institute of certified Public Accountants.

Maria has produced an outstanding manual that addresses a wide variety of real estate accounting topics. It is very well written and provides direct references to GAAP sources... which may save the reader significant time when researching issues. Maria's knowledge of the topic is absolutely one of the best in the industry. In my view, it is an excellent addition to the bookshelf of any accounting or finance professional involved in a real estate company that reports their results of operations under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

This and the other 2 are all great books for tatters once you get past the basics, because these are all written in "old style" and you will not learn how to tat from them. However, unless you are really into having your books in paper, I would not get this here. This is one of many, many books on needlework that have passed into the public domain, and you can get free PDF copies from the Antique Pattern Library dot org (remove all the spaces). Russian's idea on "Air Ace"are based on encouurage of National Patriotism and association
with practical expansion of accumulation of interest and practical invovments of Aviation
Activity. Top aces like Pokryshkin, Rechkalov and Kozhedub become famous talented peoples
and National hero. Government also offer many practical advanges including Properties.
This book represented Russian's criteria and natures with simple explanatios.
For improvement of Raising "Air Aces" are evolution and development of new, advanced,
Revolutional Fighters, improved new Tactics and well trained courageous skillful,Patriotic
Fighters who also familiar with Team Work.

Fighter US even competent Japanese.Although,USSR pick up this bad maneuberable in
high altitude, relatively fast(386mph),heavyest armed in US(1x37MM Cannon,2X20mm
machinegns,4X7.62mm machine guns),streamlined, liquid-cooling fighters.
Becase, USSR like this type of Fighters. after remodeling, Many russian pilots preferred
P-39 than yaks.

Expect excellence from Osprey's "Aircraft of the ACEs" series. This one, #15, is no exception. A brief history of the V-VS preceeds the chronicle of its record, from battle to battle, during the War. After the massive losses of Barbarossa, the Red air force very gradually, and at great cost, achieved air superiority. The progression of improvements in tactics is covered quite nicely in the text. The book contains many rare action photos from Soviet and German military archive, descriptions of all the fighter aircraft in the Soviet inventory, bios of the ACEs, color plates of uniforms and individual pilots' aircraft, reproductions of propaganda posters, and plenty of lists and stats. In addition is information about the famous "Free French" Normandie Niemen regiment and Polish, Czech, Romanian and Yugoslav divisions; female regiments and women ACEs; "suicide" (taran) rammers; and "legless wonders" -- amputees who returned to the front and flew with artificial limbs. Readers of this book will also appreciate Osprey #6,"Fw 190 ACEs of the Russian Front" and Time-Life's out-of-print (Epic of Flight) "The Soviet Air Force at War".

Compact, Well Laid Out, And Informative

I was pleasantly surprised as to the information contained in this small, but compact, volume. On the areas that I had expertise in, I found the writers to be highly accurate. At first, I thought that the book would be another one of those flashy paperbacks with no substance or depth. I learned a lot about the Aces, the aircraft, the techniques, and the capabilities of the Soviet Airmen and Airwomen. I will now, (in fact I already have), buy more in this informative series. (I wish that the publisher would come out with a volume on Italian WWII Aces and Spanish Civil War Aces...if they do, I'm buying them)

About the Author

SUSAN A. HELLWEG is Professor of Speech Communication at San Diego State University. She has been actively involved in research on political candidate image and debates for well over a decade, and has published more than forty articles, book chapters, and monographs on the subject.

MICHAEL PFAU is Professor and Chair of the Department of Speech Communication at Augustana College in South Dakota. His academic interests involve argument and the broad area of social influence, with particular emphasis on political campaign communication. He has published more than thirty articles and book chapters and co-authored two previous books, including Attack Politics: Strategy and Defense with Henry Kenski (Praeger, 1990).

STEVEN R. BRYDON is a Professor in the Department of Human Communication Studies at California State University, Chico. He is actively involved in research on political communication, rhetorical criticism, argumentation, and forensics, and has published widely on those subjects.
