Full lack of quality

It's hard to understand how, a Company like Amazon sells a product that does not fulfill the minimum quality requirements. The most elemental requirement for a book full of mathematical formulas is the possibility to read them.

Not properly formatted for the Kindle

The Kindle version of this text is unacceptably poor. The figures are not included, replaced by text that appears to have been poorly read in by a scanner. Equations are jumbled, nonsensical strings of text. Block diagrams aren't shown.

A process control textbook without properly formatted equations simply cannot provide any meaningful information regarding process control. While the physical copy may be a fine book, the digital version is not ready for the limelight.

You cannot read equations in the Kindle version. Figures are not available either. It doesn't make any sense to buy a book in this area without equations or figures.

About the Author
Linda Allen is an Olympic course designer and an internationally recognized clinician on riding, show jumping, and course design. She is a former rider for the United States in international jumping competitions, and she designed the show-jumping courses for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as for other major international competitions. She is a licensed judge and a columnist for The Chronicle of the Horse. She lives in Salinas, California.

Dianna Robin�Dennis is a full-time equestrian writer and lifelong rider. She has written for many equestrian magazines in the United States and abroad, including The Chronicle of the Horse and Equestrian (Horse Show) magazine.

Poorly constructed book!

Good info., but I don't care much for the spiral binding at the top or the quality of the paper used. Forget leaving this in the barn unless you have a climate controlled tack room. The paper is very thin that will most likely warp and tear in humidity over time (cheap printer paper). The spiral binding at the top was a terrible idea. Within the first use the pages popped out of the flimsy plastic binding leaving me to reattach hundreds of pages! :-(

It's also difficult to see both the diagram and the instructions side-by-side unless you hold the top of the book out with one hand. And if you flip the pages all the way over like I did you risk having them flip out of the binding all together.

As for the actually book, it's nicely laid out and written. However, I would have liked to see a bit more on jumping technique (body & hand position) in the beginning pages as well as some canter pole exercises. It basically has 20 trot pole exercises, then goes into jumps with flying changes. Not the best beginner transition. The canter pole exercises come after about midway through the book and I found some of the distances to be a little off.

Overall, a pretty good book that would benefit from a design change.

Make your rides more fun!

When I first started using my current trainer, Connie Warner (see warnerssporthorses.com), she recommended this book to me. My past trainers were from "show barns": get your horse over the highest jump as fast as you can and win ribbons sort of trainers. When Connie started setting up these exercises, I was baffled- I had never done any sort of gymnastics before.

I can safely say that the exercises in this book really helped Ruby and I with jumping confidence, control (we had issues with bolting after jumps), bending, and consistency. The illustrations are very clear and easy to use. Once you master the lessons in this book, you can move things around and make changes faily easily.

Note: I think the distances in this book are set for a very large riding arena: Connie and I improvise to get these gymnastics to fit in our small ring, but we have never had any issues doing this- we might have to leave out a jump, but we have done well with this anyway. For safety reason, please do not attempt the higher difficulties without a trainer present. For trot pole sequences, you can get away with setting yout lines a little off, but if you plan on jumping, you really need to be mindful of your distances. Generally, Connie will set up an exercise for me to do with her, then I leave it and practice the same one during the week.

I like to have as many resources as possible for both ...

I am a riding instructor and purchased this book as a resource for my personal library to pull ideas for children's lessons. I like to have as many resources as possible for both my personal training, and the teaching of others, since every individual horse or student is different and learns in different ways. This book is well written and easy to understand. I have applied many of the concepts to my students' lessons, and they have enjoyed practicing many of the exercises from this book.

About the Author
As the author of landmark chemistry books and textbooks, Donald McQuarrie's name is synonymous with excellence in chemical education. From his classic text on Statistical Mechanics to his recent quantum-first tour de force on Physical Chemistry, McQuarrie's best selling textbooks are highly acclaimed by the chemistry community. McQuarrie received his PhD from the University of Oregon, and is Professor Emeritus from the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Davis. He makes his home at The Sea Ranch in California with his wife Carole, where he continues to write.�

John D. Simon became the first George B. Geller Professor of Chemistry at Duke University in 1998. He is currently Chair Chemistry Department at Duke and a faculty member of the Biochemistry, and Ophthalmology Departments of the Duke Medical Center. John graduated from Williams College in 1979 with a B.A. in Chemistry and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1983. After a postdoctoral fellowship with Professor Mostafa El-Sayed at UCLA, John joined the faculty of the Department of Chemistry at UCSD in 1985.

A much-needed book, though full of misprints.

A new text in physical chemistry was very much needed, and the McQuarrie-Simon book is very good in general. It was wise to exclude electrochemistry; the subject is full of bad theory. The problems are good, but they tend to be too simple (the old idea in Moore's book of having a special section of hard problems might have helped). Criticisms: The paper is too flimsy. The strong connections between quantum mechanics and spectroscopy are good, but the NMR chapter is not connected in this manner and does not belong in the book. There are many, many typos. I will just note the most egregious: an incorrect statement of the phase rule under the portrait of the noble head of Gibbs. A Never Ending Ride of Excitement

This book had many twist and turns and started off great.

After reading the reviews for this story I had to buy it and im very glad that I did. The story was filled with twist and turns and left me on the edge of my seat with everything that took place.

The story is centered around Deidre who is sent undercover to find out what happened to a Senators daughter that was kidnapped, the FBI believed that the girls kidnapping had something to do with a notorious all girl gang called F.A.B. While undercover Diedre finds out that their is more to her assignment then what she was aware of and it goes all the way back to her father who was murdered when she was a little girl. Diedre finds herself questioning the people she works with hand trusting the people she has to bring down.

This story was a fast read. I loved how everything connected and brought the story together with one big plot and dramatic ending. All I can say for what happened at the end of the story is payback is a Mutha and Greed can kill love in an instant.

I've been waiting for another book by this author for a few years and she doesn't dissapoint!

In this book we meet FBI agent Deidre Aponte,the daughter of a deceased FBI agent. Deidre goes undercover in Brooklyn New York, to help bring down an all female drug dealing crew known as the F.A.B. Deidre is determined to crack the case. Deidre's goes deep undercover and soon she doesn't know if she is an FBI agent or a member of the F.A.B. for real!! All types of lines soon get crossed as Deidre (aka DeeDee Barnes) gets in deep with the F.A.B. Deidre will soon discover everything is not what it seems and all kinds of secrets and lies will be exposed! It's hard to keep it "hush" when the ish hits the fan!!

About The Author:

The author, Shri S.V.Govindan, hails from the village Manassery in Ottapalan, situated in the Palghat district of Kerala in southern India. Born on December 24, 1924, Govindanji is the youngest son in a family of five children. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Kerala where he was educated by his brothers who were school was educated by his brothers who were school teachers at the time. Govindanji has come a long way in gathering valuable experience not only as a teacher in various Khadi Vidyalayas in the healing and sympathetic hand.

Govindanji, a devoted social worker, is a disciple of Acharya Vinoba Bhave. He has been active in the field of Sarvodaya work for many years. The usefulness, scientific reliability, and simplicity of massage as a way to serve the masses attracted him. He wanted to help those for whom the conveniences and amenities of costly medicines were out of reach. The value of his useful technique is often overlooked, even by the enlightened. when Govindanji was initiated into this field of massage by none other than Shri K. Kelappan, a national leader from kerala, he realized that it was one of his missions to promote this useful technique by study and propagation. By reading and obsrvation he learned the theory and practice of massage. Encouraged by Vinobaji Bhave, Govindanji wrote his first publication in Hindi Maalish Ka Marma. The practically of the book attracted many who were interested in this field. Many people read it and encouraged the author to bring out this English version of it.
